There is always good cause for contributing to large-scale organizations that provide materials and services for the needy around the world. These enterprises especially thrive on big contributions from well-heeled donors. However: also worth considering are local, low-key charities where a small donation from someone of modest means can actually ‘move the needle’ and contribute positively to children’s lives.
The Webuye Lifespring school in Webuye, Kenya was recently established as an orphanage school under the direction of the World Gospel Mission Church, with the endorsement of Bishop Rotich Otisa. The goal is to provide an education for orphaned Kenyan children who lack parents and family support. The local church contributes to the yearly school budget, including staff salaries, which is estimated at $45,000 per year. However, financial and material donations (such as toiletries; school, kitchen and recreational supplies) are welcome from any source.
